One of the best thing about my job is being able to connect with inspirational individuals from fashion & beauty, really get to see the brains behind the brands and get to know them a little better. My lunch with JAS MB London at L’Escargot in Soho was exactly that. We were lead to a very opulant room upstairs in the exclusive L’Escargot Soho Restaurant, where we were presented with a glass of Champagne and introduced to the brains behind the brand, Jas.
Jas is no ordinary handbag designer, his substance runs much deeper. From inspiring other artisits to create, sponsoring leathers to other artisits so they can ‘create’ to assisting with designs for well known brands all over the world. What is more, he is the brains behind the idea / invention of the record bag, many moons ago. If that was not enough to impress, his warm friendly and kind approach to interacting with each of the influencial bloggers who were there that day, was infact, genuine. He cared, and wanted to know more. His passion for creating, whether it be with leather, or with paint (I found out very early on that Jas was a very infuential artist) shines through so vividly, even with just a simple conversation. He really does inspire. I left the day feeling very empowered by his design process and way with exploring the art of leather and all that it can do.
As we waited for all the lovely bloggers to join, we socialised and chatted amongst ourselves to get to know each other better. Joining us that day were, the iconic bearded man of the moment, Chris John Millington of Forget Fashion. Celebrity Fashion Stylist and Model Judge Leroy Dawkins from Diary of a ClothesHorse. My favourite girl, Whitney from Whitneys Wonderland and last but not least, the gorgeous Kelly Marie Edwards-Smith from Kelly Aphrodite. A gorgeous bunch, and we all got on so very well. A genuine bunch of real bloggers, not the catty, bitchy kind that I have encountered over the years.
Once aquainted we sat around the beauifully decorated table at L’Escargot Soho where each of us had a wonderful JAS MB London Suprise on our seats. As each of us opened up our JAS MB London Dust Bags we had each been gifted a luxury handmade leather handbag from Jas. Totally unexpected, I am sure you can see from the shots below how happy we all were with our suprise. Kelly received the gorgeous Black and Gold Bomber Backpack,
Leroy received a gorgeous bespoke handbag, similar to my bespoke horsehair piece only with a leopard print design on the horse hair. This bag is not only spacious but the ultimate style statement. I LOVED this one in particular.
The gorgeous Whitney and I, received a bespoke small clutch / camera case (we had been gifted a handbag a few weeks before so this was totally unexpected) both Whitney and I had spotted these camera cases when we viewed the SS15 collection and fell in love. I find mine to work well as a light cross body day bag as well as a camera case. Multi use perfection.
After the excitement of the present opening had passed we began our three course lunch at the fabulous L’Escargot Soho. For starters we had Crab Melba Toast, a tasteful explosion of flavours including lime and chilli which simply had a party in your mouth. Each mouthful was more moreish than the last. For mains we had the most succulent Beef Bourguignon I had ever tasted. It melted into the mouth and could have been cut with a paper knife the meat was so soft. We finished off with Salted Caramel Profiteroles, (well I managed a mouthful) these were sweet and crunchy, I only wish I had had more room to fit more than one of them in! I am salivating whilst writing this, these photographs are like food porn from a Marks & Spencers Advert. I would love to go back and eat this all again. We were truly stuffed after the magnificent meal laid out by L’Escargot Soho, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. After our food had digested, it was time to photograph the bags! We took to the stairs to pose with our wares. Not a bad looking bunch, eh?!
Naturally, the food had been eaten, the drink had been flowing, what better way to top of the day than with some silly blogger selfies! I must say Leroy and Whitney rasied the bar with their mobile phone cases. The phone case king and queen! See for yourself.
Special thanks to Deborah at Boston & Boston as well as the fabulous Jaz and Mel from JAS MB London. Thank you to L’Escargot Soho for having us.
