Tuesday Shoesday: Snakeskin boots

Words: Natalie Courtois

SNAKESKIN BOOTS= #obsessed!!

Literally, everywhere I turn I seem to fall in love with yet ANOTHER style of snakeskin boots! And no wonder as it seems they are having a serious fashion moment!

Snakeskin has always been a material I love and have an affinity with coming from a vintage fashion background, I’m no stranger to the 1940s and 1950s prissy handbags, and the later 70s shoulder bag reinvention.

A/W is no stranger to this material either but this season in particular it seems to have been embraced across the board, shedding its skin for a reincarnation in vibrant and rich shades of mustards, yellows, reds and greens adding colourful twist to skirts, tops and coats. Take  Miu Miu for example who have made it a staple of their fall offering.

But back to boots! Granted an orange snakeskin skirt might be too much for some, but a smart pair of boots in this season favourite material will add a touch of class and glamour to jeans, day dresses and another of this season wonderlusts, the culotte trouser.

Focussing towards the high street and top of my AW15 wish list are these Topshop ankle boots, (£78) which are perfect for winter with their sturdy heel! Not on their website just yet…..

Next up are Kurt Geigers Wallace Knee highs. (£210) I love the gorgeous warm tone that I’m already planning to wear with soft knits as well as flirty chiffon dresses.  These would work equally well for the office or for a night out.

River island have also produced a great alternative, not leather but less then half the price (£75) and they look just as posh meaning style doesn’t have to suffer over finances.

Honestly I could add all 3 to my ever expanding shoe collection which currently has a serious shortage of snakey specimens. To shop your favourite just click the image and don’t forget to let us know your thoughts below….
