I booked through Teletext Holidays – this part of the process was a little arduous. It involved both me and Mr LL on our iPads one Saturday morning – one with trip advisor up and the other teletext holidays. Scrolling through each resort and cross referencing with reviews, location, walking distances and what’s close by.
After a painstaking few hours we narrowed it down to our top 3. We opted for the Vitors Plaza Resort in Alvor. A great location not far from FARO airport, a resort within walking distance of the beach, restaurants etc. And to top it off, we got a bargain. Hotel, flights, hold luggage & transfers for 4 nights under £220pp. Amazing. The perfect excuse to grab some sun for a few days.
We opted for four nights and we were lucky enough to get an early flight out from Gatwick and a late flight back from Faro. (More time in the sun!!) one of our best decisions of the whole holiday was to pre book an airport taxi to and from Gatwick airport from Brighton. We used Brighton Airport Cabs, and our driver was just the best. This just took the whole stress of getting to and from an airport away. We didn’t need to worry. We were picked up in a gorgeous black Mercedes and dropped to the door.
(The firm send you a text the night before your pick up so you know they haven’t forgotten about you. We were picked up again with no trouble at all. Our flight arrived a little late, and we didn’t get home till midnight, it was so nice for us both to just sit back and relax. TOTALLY worth the money. We will be doing this from now on for sure.)
We were lucky with the weather. A few misty days but this was welcomed with the heat of the sun. 25 degrees most days, it really was nice just lounging by the pool. We even gave some of the entertainment activities a go – in target shooting – I shot a 9 (that’s a smidgen just outside a bullseye FYI) on my first go. I didn’t manage however to hit the target again so perhaps this was beginners luck!
One of the highlights was of course the secluded beach tucked away in amongst caves – the gorgeous cliff structures are a stunning backdrop to the open ocean. So peaceful. We walked along the length of the beach right up to the more public/ known beaches into Playa Da Rocha and back again. It was so nice to walk along the beach with the sand between your toes and the sun on your back. Perfection. Exactly what we were both looking for. Simple, peaceful relaxation.
Take a look at some of my photos below.
I cannot recommend Alvor in Portugal enough. Great for the kids in the summer and perfect for couples in October!
