To celebrate the UK launch of SHOPTIQUES, the online store that hosts over 5000 unique boutiques from New York, to Paris, we were invited to do a Instagram takeover, showcasing the best of British, and more specifically, the best of our home town Brighton!
We met up with Marta of Solace.Studio, our wonderful and uber talented photographer pal, who’s shot for the likes of Loxley England and the three of us headed to our favourite haunts in order to give a whistle stop tour of our stomping ground.
First up though, COFFEE! It was super cold day, bitterly cold in actual fact, so we started with a quick pic at Gunns Florist, who’s blooms always look amazing and they always have something we’ve never seen before!
Then it was time to warm up so we headed to Magazine Brighton. Those of you who follow our instagram and blog will know that this is always our first stop for inspiration, as they literally have the best selection of titles. The Gentlewoman and British Girls particularly stood out for us this time round and seemed rather apt for our British takeover!
As we could now feel our fingers again, warmed up from the cold and full of inspiration we headed straight to Nola Boutique one of our top Brighton Stores, for two reasons: 1: it’s owner is an absolute sweetie, and always makes us feel very welcome and 2: she has the best eye, picking the best from brands such as Libertine X Libertine, Jakke, Bella Freud, Le Specs and more! We both fell in love with a piece each which have made their way onto our Xmas lists(see part 2 later this week to find out!)
Full of fashion inspiration, but hungry, we headed to The Lion & Lobster Pub for a totally British Roast Dinner (well, we couldn’t not share this with our American cousins on a Sunday!) A total local secret, this traditional pub serve the best roast and it’s great value too.
We decided now that we NEEDED to walk that dinner off! So headed towards our beloved seafront for an early evening promanade. Call it the cold and fresh sea air but an hour later we were tucking into fish n chips, another British staple but with the pier behind us a great photo opportunity. EXCEPT THE SEAGULLS who were relentless in their battle for our chips!
Freezing cold and totally traumatised by said Seagulls, there was only one way to end the day….. A glass of champagne at Browns! The perfect end to the perfect day in Brighton.
Cheers SHOPTIQUES and welcome to the UK!
Stay tuned later this week for Part 2 for full outfit posts, sharing some outtakes with you and revealing more about the designers we fell in love with on our day, including the Jewellery designer festured within our takeover….
