I’m sure you are beginning to grasp by now, what Hygge means. And why the Danes set aside time religiously for it. It has been known that, the Danes light THE MOST candles than anyone in the world. In the world!! That is some serious candle lighting and so we decided to share with you some of our favourite brands, perfect for lighting candles around the home to encourage your Hygge-ness.
Luxury is where Kenneth Turner is at. Their candles are more than just candles, the ornamental hand blown glass is so beautifully crafted and delicate, it even doubles as a candlelight holder once the candle has burned away. The scent of Winter Berries really takes your senses to a cosy wood cabin indoors with a log fire with the scent of sweet red berries, satsuma and cinnamon in harmony with iris and vanilla. It is like Christmas in a cup. Literally.
The Kenneth Turner ‘Signature‘ scent reed difuser, a warm and spicy fragrance with blends of orange blossom and honeysuckle with citrus oils, woods and spices. Is the first thing I noice when I open the door. What’s more, is how strong the aromatherapy oils are within the candle and the reed diffuser, the scent travels throughout your home, lingering in each room like a surprise – in a good way!
Truly Lovely are a recently discovered brand on our radar based in Warwick. These luxurious handmade candles have a long lasting scent, come beautifully packaged and have a variety of scents online to choose from depending on your preference. I love the packaging these candles come in. Sleek simplistic and minimal, it is right up my street. The Winter Spice Candle is perfect for this time of year, another Christmas in a cup style candle that will fill your home with the most enviable scent. The spicy notes fill your nostrils and really transport your senses.
Reed diffusers are great additions to the home and easier than candles at times because you just leave them to sit and perfume your home through reed sticks submerged in essential oils. The Winter Berries scent is soft and sensual on the nose but still leaves the room with a dazzling aroma.
Since Natalie and I are recently engaged ladies, we also received a selection of wedding votives by Truly Lovely. A perfect trio for wedding days, either dotted around the venue or on the table as favours. Each scent is so uplifting, I think I will be surrounded by them on my weddings day! My favourite is the “Rose Bouquet” candle, a soft sensual scent with notes of rose and sandalwood to give that woody edge. They smell like heaven. Also available in the range are, Blossom (this scent is light and sophisticated, with sumptuous layers of cherry and peony blossom) and Love is…. (a beautiful perfume of delicate violets and wisteria). The three delicate scents are ideal for your wedding day. It is hard to believe a small candle can pack so much punch! Having these dotted around your wedding venue will really impress your guests with the smell.
Yankee Candle – Autumn Range
Yankee Candle pretty much have a candle for everything. Their Auntun range is one to drool over in terms of scents. Four indulgent frangrances including Autumn Nights (an earthy woody scent with notes of grapefruit, lavender & oak), Rhubarb Crumble (Notes of rhubarb with brown sugar and vanilla a good enough to eat), Honey Clementine (Orange, Clementine and base notes of Honey) & Ebony & Oak (a real woody, oak, forrest scent). I mean talk about wanting to eat them all up (the rhubarb one mostly). Your home smells like freshly baked crumble with the burning of this candle. It actually made me make crumble it gave me such a craving. So delicately sweet and a little different to your usual wintery scents.
It goes without saying that we will be indulging in lighting lots of candles this month and it has to be said that, it does make a difference to the space you are in. Not only by the relaxation of candlelight but the right combination of essential oils and scents from candles can change your mood. Just maybe don’t light too many rhubarb crumbles at the one time otherwise you will find yourself in the kitchen at all hours with a craving. Not speaking from experience; honest.
