Clean beauty

Transitioning into the AW months can be harsh on your skin as well as your mood so ensuring your beauty routine is filled with hygge-inspired rituals and treats is so important! Think long, candle-lit baths, sumptuous body butters, rich and luxurious skincare treatments that ensure your skin is as cosy as your mind.

A great way to incorporate Hygge into your skincare routine is by using rich, nourishing ingredients that also have holistic benefits that will help relax your mind and body whilst you sit in your candle-lit lounge in front of a roaring fire. BYBI Beauty’s Supercharge Serum is made up of rich ingredients such as jasmine and chamomile that will fully nourish whilst acting as incredible antioxidants to rejuvenate and repair winter skin. They double up as mind-soothers as the scent of both chamomile and jasmine are calming and relaxing. Our magical Mega Mist is made up of rose, lemon balm and orange blossom waters. Their combined scent is light, uplifting and refreshing and helps to brighten winter moods whilst doubling up as a super hydration hit for dry skin. Plus, it’s full of hyaluronic acid that provides a supple kick to winter skin that’s lost its bounce.

A Hygge beauty routine wouldn’t be complete without a bath soak – the ultimate in cosy, luxurious pampering. Epsom salts and lavender are the perfect combination for ultimate muscle and mind relaxation after a long winter day. Lavender is also great to help the Summer to Autumn skin transition as it has powerful anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties, soothing ultra-dry skin from head to toe. We love some DIY bath time and these are two of our Autumn/Winter favourites from our book, Clean Beauty – recipes to manage your beauty routine naturally (£18 and available from ASOS and Amazon)

Hot and Steamy:

Ingredients –

½ cup chamomile tea

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon grated ginger

½ cup soya milk

If you’re feeling a bit tired, suffering from lacklustre skin, you know the feeling, pressing a hot flannel soaked in this mixture is particularly revitalising and is a great pick me up for weary skin. Chamomile is super soothing and soya milk is rich in nutrients. Ginger helps to bring oxygen-carrying blood to the surface ad honey will ensure skin remains soft and supple by locking in moisture. This compress is a rich source of antioxidants so use when in need of some get up and glow!

How to:

Add the honey and ginger to the tea and leave for 10 minutes. Stir in the soya milk. Submerge a cotton flannel in the milky mixture and place over the face. Repeat three times. You can also keep in the fridge as this also works really well as a toner to close the pores and tighten the skin!

Rejuvenating Rose, Milk & Honey Bath Soak:

Ingredients –

1 cup organic whole milk

2 tablespoons of honey

Handful of rose petals

Few drops of lavender essential oil

Mega easy, this is the perfect Sunday night Hygge treat. Milk contains lactic acid which is an alpha hydroxy acid (aka AHA), this helps to regenerate and replenish, buffing away dead skin cells and leaving behind fresh and bright skin. Honey (another legend in the natural beauty world) is a humectant which is great for soothing dry skin and locking in moisture. Rose petals and lavender essential oil are a dreamy fragrance combo. Lavender essential oil is also great for treating body acne, eczema and other skin problems due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

How to:

Gently heat the milk without letting it come to the boil. Add the honey, stir until fully dissolved, then take off the heat. Let it cool a little, then add the rose petals, the lavender drops and stir and pour into your running bath and RELAX.

Smoother skin with some BYBI Beauty Detox Dust to help detox and purify the skin whilst you bathe. Pollution, stress and day to day grime can really play havoc with skin which is why our Detox Dust is so brilliant – crammed full of activated charcoal, coconut shell, papaya enzyme and antioxidant blackcurrant and really gets to work at detoxing dull grey skin and clogged pores.

It can be easy to focus on helping skin transition into winter months and forget about keeping the whole of your body cosy and looked after. Hands and feet often suffer in the colder months and so we love a super cosy mitt and sock treatment to help keep them super soft and happy. Invest in a pair of silk mitts and socks for a luxurious overnight treatment. Apply BYBI’s Babe Balm liberally to hands and feet and wear the silk garments overnight. The balm contains squalene and camellia oils which will hydrate and nourish and the silk in the mitts and socks will help to maintain the skin’s moisture levels (whilst also feeling MEGA cosy).
