Effortless Luminous Glowing Skin Using Hourglass & NARS

Perfect glowing skin or the perfect glowing complexion rather, is something we all wish we had. I have no end of magazines advising me on ‘how to achieve’ the perfect glow, but sometimes it’s a fine line between achieving that gorgeous glow and looking shiny. We want to see the product work effortlessly and look as though we just fell out of bed ala plump face and glowing skin, minus the glitter. With that being said, I think I have found that perfect combination.

No filter has been used in the above photo, just natural light. As you can see, my skin appears rather dewy and juicy and has a glorious luminous look all over. This could not be any easier to achieve. I am still quite taken aback as to how easy the whole look is.

It’s all about the base. I am putting more and more effort into my base recently. Goner the days when I would slap on the nearest foundation over moisturiser. It’s all about the steps before hand to achieve the perfect base. I start with a bloody good cleanse. If I have more time I use a balm cleanser all over the face, (currently loving Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm)  rinse a muslin cloth under hot water until the heat resides within the cloth, I then place this hot muslin over my face, allowing the heat to open my pores and really allowing the balm cleanser to get to work. I repeat this process two or three times before removing the rest of the cleanser from my face with the hot muslin. I find this level of deep cleansing works wonders for really getting all that trapped dirt out of your pores. If I don’t have as much time, I reach for a gel cleanser, (I’m currently loving Algenist Foaming Cleanser) as this is a very easy slap on and wash off number, if time is not on your side.

After cleansing, I apply my all time favourite serum by Caudalie. I have been hooked on this product for years after trying a sample of this from a Space NK goody bag, the rest was history after that moment and I have continued to restock this product in my Beauty cabinet for years. The Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum does exactly what it says on the bottle. Quenches the skin and oh my, does this make such a difference. I find when the weather changes, especially at this time of year when it’s Baltic for a few days then gets warmer before plummeting to subzero temperatures again, my skin has a bit of a dry meltdown, to the point it almost flakes off my skin. Yuk. The Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum by Caudalie revitalises my skin, like a sucker punch of moisture to the face. The serum is sucked into the skin like a sponge, instantly refreshing and hydrating for the skin.

Moisturiser wise, I have been using EVE LOM Brightening Cream which is so lovely to use each morning. A very light moisturiser that absorbs really easily into the skin, without leaving any residue. I have noticed my skin looking much much brighter, more awake and definitely more nourished.

Primers are not something I use all too often, but I was intrigued by the Ambient Light Correcting Primer from Hourglass Cosmetics. As usual, I had high hopes for this new Hourglass product and it has not disappointed. I opted for Luminous Light, a natural beige colour which deflects light particles to achieve a perfect base and luminous glow. Once applied you can see just how luminous the skin looks. This is surprising when you see the consistency of the product, it glides on easily and evenly, working it’s way into the nooks and crannies of your face. This is the first time I have felt a primer really work at filling in pores and creating a flawless base. Your skin really is like a perfect canvas to get to work on.

On top of the Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer I am using their Hyaluronic Skin Tint in Golden. I really love how effortless this foundation is to apply. Complete with SPF and Hyaluronic Acid – need I say much more? The Hourglass Hyaluronic Skin Tint glides on really easily. It’s rather pigmented too for such a lightweight product, blends really well and absorbs into the skin leaving a subtle but dewy look overall. You can’t help but keep looking at yourself because your look so good. (Ha) It really has that effect. This is the closest I have ever felt to having perfect skin and a glowing complexion.

Now that my base is sorted, I opted for a few products I purchased at Space NK recently. These products have been repurchased time and time again, they are staples In my makeup bag. I have been a HUGE fan for NARS bronzer for years, and whilst I am a Casino girl, the NARS Liquid Laguna Bronzer is such a handy product. It creates contours easily and gives a beautiful sun kissed glow to the skin, by simply, dotting it on around the face and blending well. This is a must have product in my opinion, it lasts all day and makes my overall make up look better. I added some compact NARS Casino bronzer ontop, I find Casino to be a nicer bronzer shade so it adds the right kind of definition I’m looking for on top of the liquid. (Fingers crossed NARS release a liquid version of Casino!!) But you could easily use one or the other, this double application was to emphasise the glowing effect. Rather well done don’t you think?

The finishing touch was Mascara, I am all about NARS Audacious Mascara – I purchased it as soon as it launched and this is my fourth purchase (bought a little prematurely because I dropped my older Audacious down the toilet! So a new one was required asap!!). This mascara lengthens the lashes to perfection, it starts off quite inky but it does settle down after a week or so of application which then allows you to really build on the lashes without clumping. I get so many compliments on my lashes when I wear this mascara. It really seperates each lash, even the tiny little ones because the brush has a variety of bristles to really get into those smaller lashes.

I really love the overall look and it has become my favourite daily look, so easy to achieve with the above mentioned products and quickly as well. I used my fingers for liquid application and a Japonesque brush for the compact bronze, literally five minutes and your done. I kept my lips nude for this look, but you could add some colour with lipstick of gloss should you wish too.

So there you have it. Easy glowing skin in a few steps using Hourglass Cosmetics and NARS, what do you think?
